  • Problem loading sounds from old version 1.44 or younger when they did not start at the beginning - Thanks to John Huegel & Chris Joyce

10/17/001.46

  • Fixes Best Format bug listed under IMIX 1.31. This could be conceived as a fatal bug, because after a cut, the quality of audio went down to 11khz, 8bit stereo. YUCK. The work around for this was to set the Playback settings in the Preferences to "Use This Format" and then pick a format appropriate to what you are doing...Most would pick 44khz, 16, stereo.
  • Variable bit rate MP3's will not synch properly at this point, although you may load them. - Thanks to XING for inventing these...:) (carryover from 1.31)
  • Some MP3's will not mix extremely accurately if you start playback in the middle of sound versus starting from the beginning. This is due to a problem in a seek calculation.
  • For now, try to use MP3's in the same format and you hopefully won't run into this problem. - Thanks to master bug finder David Hayes. (carryover from 1.31)
  • When loading really long files, they will sometimes be cut off or extended by a small amount. This can be manually fixed by resizing or adjusting the length of the sound. (Usually long MP3s or compressed files) - Thanks to Jeff Bushberg (carryover from 1.31)

  • "Insert a new sound sample to a new mix. Then, cut a large section off the end (when I did this I left myself 10 seconds of the beginning of a song). Next select the remaining sample and using the RIGHT HAND end of the sample, change the rate of the sample- to anything other than what it is seemingly but I tested most using a slower rate. If this produces the same results with you, you should see the entire sound sample is back again at the new rate." - Thanks to Sandy Ogilvie
  • Recording indicator goes away sometimes. (This is fixed in the next version!)
  • Browsing new sounds would sometimes result in the wrong playback format.. (Minor)
  • While in "Use Best Format" mode, undoing a sound a few times in a special circumstance would cause the wrong best format to be in use.

11/03/991.3

  • Playing a sound from the "Add A Sound" dialog when searching for a sound, would sometimes not result in the best playback quality. (fixed in 1.31)
  • Moving/Editing pivot points was a little tedious when they are too close together in version 1.3. (fixed in 1.31)
  • Really Long sound names (beyond 80 chars) would crash after loading...(fixed in 1.31)
  • The main delay with 1.31 is the bug found by David Hayes. MP3's will not synch correctly in some cases if you start the session from the middle. Starting it from the beginning will sound fine. I have almost reached a solution, although this has proven to be more exhaustive than first thought, due to many variations of the MP3 format.

08/31/991.25

  • Missing Mp3..Search for sound does not allow selection of mp3's via the browse window. (fixed in next version!)
  • Freeze bug relating to playback of sounds. This can happen on some machines in the right circumstances. It may happen in the "Add Sounds" dialog, or during playback in rare ocurrences. (It has to do with starting and stopping the same sound really quickly.) This will definitely be fixed in 1.3. I will kill all ze bugs!!! :-) -Joseph (fixed in next version!)
  • Playback gets out of synch with the waveform after using the scroll bar in a strange way. Thanks to Dave Norman!
  • Adding a bunch of pivot points in the same area while in maximum zoom in can result in a crash. (Thanks to Francois Corriveau) (fixed in next version!)

08/11/991.22

  • Creating a RealAudio file via "File:Save As" will always produce Realaudio files at the "6.5 Kbps Voice" encoding level, which does not sound good. The current work around is to create RealAudio files via the toolbar "RealAudio" button. Thanks to Dennis DenHartog again!

  • Crash on Win98 w/Fraunhofer when MP3 is loaded and try to open another sound group with an embedded MP3.
  • Holding down the space bar, causing the session to play, then stop, play, stop...will eventually cause a freeze. This playback freeze may be reproducible in other ways and has to do with sound-groups.
  • Deleting or cutting the front end of a soundgroup will cause a crash.
  • Playing with a selection hilighting a sound will cause minor redraw artifacts.
  • Recording with limited hard drive space will cause a crash or the swapfile to be so busy that your computer is effectively hosed.

04/11/991.14

In fact, today is the programmer's birthday and he is actually working on this bug. Hopefully he will have some cake as soon as this bug is fixed! :( IMIX is still functional and you may not actually encounter this bug, but we take every bug seriously.

03/08/991.1

  • Crashed occasionally for some compressed ADPCM or IMAPCM compressed Wave files. This was a left over from the WAVE RIFF MP3 bug below.

02/26/991.1

  • Crashes loading MP3's in the WAVE RIFF format. (Must have the MPEG1 Layer III audio codec installed in Windows's Audio Compression Manager.) Many sounds from SoundAmerica will cause this crash. This has been fixed and will be added to the a very soon to come upgrade.)
