DRUM MAPS AND THE DRUM MAP EDITOR
Drum maps replace the piano roll's note names with drum names — "Kick," "Snare," "Closed Hat" — so drum programming reads like a drum machine instead of a piano. Mixcraft 11 adds a full drum map editor plus automatic drum name detection for VST3 drum plugins.
SELECTING A DRUM MAP
Use the searchable scale/drum map dropdown on the piano roll header (or the step editor voice menu) to pick a map. The menu is organized into User, Recent, and Factory submenus, and a recently-used list tracks your last 20 maps. Deleted map files are pruned from the menus automatically.
VST3 DRUM MAP SUPPORT
Load a VST3 drum instrument, and Mixcraft automatically reads the drum note names the plugin publishes. The piano roll and step editor immediately display the correct names for that kit — no setup needed. This works alongside the regular drum map system, so you can still override with a map of your own.
THE DRUM MAP EDITOR
The editor lets you create, edit, save, delete, and revert custom drum maps:
A 128-row editor shows every MIDI note in descending order, matching the piano roll layout.
Each row has a play preview button so you can audition the sound while naming it.
Save custom maps to your user folder; the Show User Drum Maps Folder command opens it in Explorer for easy file management and sharing.
